'MAYA' WORLD PREMIERE SCREENING AT INTERNATIONAL HOUSE PHILADELPHIA
International House Philadelphia, PA

'Maya' is an independent film shot in Philadelphia and Cape May in 2012. It is the first feature project written and directed by Dan Papa, and stars Amy Frear as Maya, and Dan McGlaughlin as Leo.
Also starring Merci Lyons-Cox as Lila and Harry Slack as Travis. Cinematography by Shawn Annable and Sound by Sean Hamilton.
The movie is an exploration of how love transforms us. Using dreams and visions, the film explores the inner world of the young characters as well as the outer environment that is rapidly changing around them. As Maya and Leo progress through the darker aspects of love, their insight changes as they go through a sort of spiritual growth. 'Maya' is a Sanskrit word that designates the world of the senses as fleeting illusion. I hope the mystery in this film mirrors the mystery of love itself.
